CAMPAIGN NEWS: Alibaba.com and Applegate announce marketing partnership

Published: 22-10-2009

B2B e-commerce company Alibaba.com has joined forces with online B2B directory Applegate to promote UK businesses to an international audience.

Applegate features thousands of suppliers from the UK and Ireland across several industries including business services, oil and gas and electronics. Using the new partnership it aims to offer UK SMEs the ability to reach buyers from established markets such as America as well as emerging economies such as China and the Middle East.

The two companies have signed a marketing partnership that included email and PR techniques, both will be responsible for promoting UK businesses internationally. Email marketing and PR will be some of the techniques used.

Alibaba.com say businesses listed with Applegate will receive a free area on its site to promote companies and products. The online directory says it is using this offer to drive traffic back to its site rather than increase revenue.

Maggie Choo, EMEA director at Alibaba.com says, "We believe that Applegate's expertise in the UK combined with our global reach will offer huge opportunities for British business."
