Gyro International has acquired Stockholm-based brand communications consultancy Dowell Stubbs for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition is the second this year for the integrated communications agency, which is seeking to become the single largest independent communications agency in the world. In March, it purchased B2B marketing agency Cicero Marketing Communications.
The acquisition of Dowell Stubbs will see the Swedish-based consultancy merging with Gyro's existing Swedish operations. Claës af Buren, md of Dowell Stubbs becomes md of Gyro's entire Swedish base whilst its founder and CEO, Julian Stubbs, becomes Gyro's head of brand strategy across the group worldwide. Eric Dowell will be creative director based out of New Jersey in the US, and will be an intrinsic part of Gyro's East Coast offering.
Richard Glasson, chief operating officer at Gyro International, comments, "The acquisition allows us to create one of the largest independent agencies in Scandinavia. Dowell Stubbs also has a strong presence in the bio-tech market which is a key vertical marketplace for Gyro moving forwards. Culturally the agency fits very naturally with the rest of Gyro's operations, and its international client base will benefit from the combination of the two companies."
