All talk and no action for small business bloggers

Published: 19-10-2006

Small businesses are getting caught up in the hype surrounding blogging, according to new research by hosting provider Fasthosts, but actual implementation of blogs is failing to keep up with interest levels.

The survey revealed that nearly half of UK small businesses would use a blog to drive traffic to their site, but in reality three per cent have any realistic plans to launch one.

The results are based on a survey of 2000 small businesses, conducted by Fasthosts, which claims to be the UK's largest hosting provider.

Andrew Michael, CEO of Fasthosts, comments, "Blogs provide a fantastic way for small businesses to differentiate themselves through personalising their website and attracting new customers. The corporate blogs of large companies are bound by corporate guidelines and gate keepers, so for small businesses there is a greater opportunity for interesting comment and genuine dialogue with customers."
